We are a training practice which means that qualified doctors, who are training to be GPs and Hospital Doctors, will be working with us for periods of up to 1 year. We also train medical students. You will be asked for your permission before a student is allowed to see you.
The Nurse Practitioners are important members of our Duty Team. All of our Nurse Practitioners triage and treat patients and are qualified to prescribe medication.
Our Practice Nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.
We employ 3 Nurse Practitioners, 4 Practice Nurses and 2 Health Care Assistants.
The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
June and Lesley are our community midwives and run antenatal clinics at the surgery on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. If you are pregnant please book an appointment with the midwife to discuss your antenatal care.
For information, we do not directly employ the midwives, so if you have any comments/complaints please speak to them directly or contact the midwifery manager at North Hampshire Hospital.
The district nurses/ICT can be contacted on 0300 003 0019. They will visit housebound patients who need nursing care at home at the request of a GP or hospital doctor.
